Je n’en crois pas mes yeux, A New Country!

Je n’en crois pas mes yeux! (I can not believe it), we’re going to France y’all!

Jake and I are thrilled to set out again on another trip, it feels like its been awhile since our last, though that’s never really true; we’ve been moving and grooving this entire year. But this voyage is across the Atlantic Ocean, to France, where we will be spending the next several months!

This trip feels a different than our norm. There’s not as much anticipation or anxiety that one may naturally feel before taking a large trip. Maybe we’ve just been living in limbo for long enough that we’re used to it. Not a bad way to be I suppose.

First on the docket is housesitting and petsitting in a tiny little village of western Brittany. From what we’ve read, there are only 600 people living in the village, which I am so looking forward to. We will be fully immersed in French culture, French language and that will make for a really fun adventure on its own. Plus we get to watch a cute puppy named Meeka. Jake and I have been studying French for the last several months; Jake has a leg up on me as the French Club president in High School. I need total immersion for a new language to stick, so I’m hopeful that will happen with enough time.

We also plan to go visit our friend who lives on the Eastern border of the country and maybe do a little trip to Germany, Switzerland and Italy (if we have time). We also are thinking about Versailles and Mont Saint Michel (a super beautiful castle-jail on an island). But otherwise, we are ALL EARS. If you have any suggestions for places to visit, please share.

And I will be keeping tabs on our trip too, so feel free to stick around and travel along with us.

  1. Sounds FANTASTIC! Have a superb time! I have never been to any of those countries that you will visit. I have only been to Ireland (where we have “Byrne” relatives) and the UK. (“Byrne” is the most common family name in County Wicklow, just South of Dublin.)
Are you sailing Bosco across the Atlantic?

  2. Wow Steve that’s pretty fantastic! We would love to go to Ireland (have not yet been). We aren’t brave enough to sail the Atlantic, but we may consider having Bosco shipped to the Med or possibly further north so we can explore the Fjords of Norway!
